Summer Fling Registration Now Open!

The Ontario Young Liberals are proud to announce that registration for the 2015 edition of Summer Fling is now open. Organized by the Ontario Young Liberals, Summer Fling is an annual policy conference that brings together young Liberals from across Ontario. Held on a summer weekend at a different Ontario university campus each year, it is both a chance to present and debate policies and an opportunity for OYL members to get to know their counterparts from across the province.

This year’s Summer Fling is being held from July 17-19 at Nipissing University in North Bay. It is our first major event in Northern Ontario since before the 2011 election. Best of all, this year’s Summer Fling will cost just $40, all inclusive! The weekend will feature policy, training, plenty of parties and an a-list lineup of special guests. More information and registration details can be found here. Don’t miss out. See you up north!

Ready to win

“On June 12, the people of our province will have a choice – a choice between safe hands and risky tactics.”

That was Premier Wynne on May 2, announcing that Ontarians will head to the polls next month. It’s also a call to action to Liberals across the province.

We know what the Premier stands for, and we know what she has the aspirational and realistic plan to move our province forward. Now it’s time for us to hit the streets and show Ontarians what we stand for – jobs, growth, and opportunity for all.

Young Liberals have always played an important role in campaigns, and I know this will be no exception. If you’re ready to help us win, sign up below to pledge your support.

Good luck, and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.

Michelle Johnston
President

OYL kicks off spring riding recruitment drive

Two weeks ago we launched our student club recruitment drive (winner to be announced shortly), and today we’re excited to launch out riding club recruitment drive! Summer is coming, and it’s time to build up our riding clubs.

From today, April 4th to Friday, April 18th, the OYL Riding Club in each region with the highest percentage increase in their membership will win a surprise date with an MPP, covered by the OYL (6 winners possible).

Here’s how it works: Clubs will have two weeks to sign up as many members as they want, using whatever recruitment techniques work best for them. Once the contest closes, the OYL will receive updated membership numbers for all provincial riding clubs, and divide the number of new members by the number of members on April 4. This percentage is the growth rate. The provincial riding club in each region with the highest growth rate will win the prize.

All membership forms MUST be submitted to the OLP office by 5pm on April 17th or submitted online by 5pm on April 18th. Memberships received prior to Friday, April 4 will not be eligible for consideration towards club growth.

All currently recognized provincial riding clubs are eligible, so get recruiting!

OYL kicks off spring recruitment drive

How would like to be part of a personal Skype date with Premier Wynne and your campus club? Sounds pretty cool, eh? You can make it happen.

From today, March 21 to Friday, April 4 the Student Club with the highest percentage increase of their current membership will win a Skype date with the Premier, and we’ll take of pizza and drinks too.

Here’s how it works: the OYL will receive current membership numbers from the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario) for all of our campus clubs. Clubs have two weeks to sign up as many members as they want, using whatever recruitment techniques work best for them. Once the contest closes, the OYL will receive updated membership numbers from the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario) for all of campus clubs, and divide the number of new members by the number of members on March 21. This percentage is the growth rate. The campus club with the highest growth rate wins a Skype date with the Premier, complete with snacks, pizza, and drinks, provided by the OYL.

Riding clubs, don’t feel left out. This competition is only for student clubs, but your competition starts on April 4, details to come soon.
